Attribute is private on forge version...

Minecraft.getMinecraft().gameSettings.keyBindForward.pressed the pressed attribute is private and I cannot modify it... How do I make it public? It's read only so I have no idea how to do it - I assume it has to do with the version of forge and the build or something like that but I'm not sure... Let me know.
