mac identifer not unique for estimote nearables

matthiasg opened this issue · 3 comments

its the nearables again :) it seems they broadcast two different types of packets one a little more often than another but it seems to always use a different mac (i have two stickers near the bluetooth receiver in the screenshot)

not a big deal for me and this ticket can be closed without any work, but wanted to make sure this is at least mentioned here. it seems there is some kind of uuid which is broadcast somewhere, but unsure whether this is standard iBeacon stuff or not.

Hi,
I think you mean the UUID is different, not the MAC.
Correct?

I've come across beacons that broadcast a certain UUID under normal conditions, and when a button is pressed or when say movement is detected (Beacons with 3-axis accelerometer) they broadcasts a different UUID to indicate that this event is taking place.

I would not find that odd, and probably a support ticket with Estimote folks could clarify what you
are seeing, perhaps it is something useful for your scenario.

regards,

This is so long ago I would have to check again :) Will do this weekend.

Hi;
I am running into a similar issue. I have six estimote beacons and they all show the exact same UUID. The screenshot shows 3 of them as an example.

I checked the estimote portal and certainly all six have different UUID(s) and also none of them match what is being picked up in the UWP app.

Any thoughts?

Thanks;
Sujit
