user-supplied pseudoabsences

Function 'ENMTML' always requires pseudoabsence locations to be automatically generated, following the 'pseudoabs_method' argument. Would it be possible to let the users themselves supply the pseudoabsence coordinates (if they have them), e.g. by adding an argument 'pseudoabs_file' with the same characteristics as 'occ_file'? Arguments 'sp', 'x' and 'y' could then be used for both occurrences and pseudoabsences.
Hello,
Our lab is also interested in this topic. We sometimes need to select pseudo-absences to account for our biased sampling effort. E.g., more sampling next to road and/or cities. Or to account for the fact that some areas might have had more intense sampling efforts for historical reasons (as is the case for many musem and citizen science datasets).
How could this be implemented within ENMTML?
Cheers,
Lorenzo
Hello,
yes, it is possible. It would be a great addition!
We initially included only automatically generated pseudo-absences because it is the most common type of data used by our team, but I believe it is important to expand the possibilities to encompass all kinds of situations and needs.
We are planning an update of the pakage that will arrive up to June (hopefully!).
We will include the possibility for user to input their own pseudo-absence file in this next update.
We will also talk about the possibility to include a biased sampling of pseudo-absence, I believe it is also possible!
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
Cheers,
André
