Advantages I'm thinking of are if you want to disable/enable parts of softbody and still retain some simulation. With PhysicalBone2D you could do that with the simulate physics toggle

Looked into this but it seems PhysicalBone2D is quite hard to configure. Would rather not change that much the addon as idk if there would be a lot of benefit.
