With the POE board attached, the ETH board is too high to support shields unless their pins are extended.

does this happen with the "extra long passthough pins" that we normally use ? (eth shield atc)

Yes.

it is possible to place POE at bottom side with angled pins and use some plastic spacers...It is important to have a simple and clean way to plug POE to the ETH board

Note: when you have the PoE transformer mounted, you can't reach the reset button.

I'm happy to report that PoE works beautifully for me. Plugged an ETH board with the PoE module into a PoE switch and it started right up. Anyone who has one working should test with other hardware hanging off it though. My switch can deliver a max of 20W.
