Virtual remote question

Hi,

I just ordered and recieved a module and I have a question.

When I create a virtual remote, does it send the command (to the HRU) by air or I2C?
And if by air, could I use the module to control multiple HRU's?
(By powering the module outside the HRU..........)

Virtual remotes use the i2c bus, RF devies use the CC1101 module to receive and send commands
