About 1/5 requests are failing with the following type of log:

Still primary cause of problems now, but timeout should help. Its not even hitting the error callback path.

Seems I forgot the damn .gitattributes file in the production repo, causing merges to fail incorrectly. Also fixed a number of small potential issues in the scripts.
