Sideberry missing when opening new tab

I don't know if this is intentional but the Sidebar is missing when opening a new tab. comes back after opening a new website.
Installed all add-ons and installed chrome as instructed.
tried resetting Sideberry setting, and disabling some add-ons still missing when opening a new tab.
tried creating a new profile. still missing when opening a new tab
