Losslessly writing raw atrac data (.aea files) to MiniDiscs?

Closed this issue · 4 comments

Hello, thank you so much to everyone involved in making the lossless ripping feature a thing! It’s really been a boon for me to archive old discs.

I was wondering if it would be technically possible to implement lossless writing of atrac1 data such as the one saved to .aea files by Web MiniDisc Pro’s factory mode ripping feature without re-encoding it?

As I understand, you can already write files converted to the ATRAC codec with SonicStage onto MDs without re-encoding. Could the same be achieved with atrac data that’s not encapsulated in the .oma format? Or is it otherwise possible to encapsulate .aea files into .oma files without re-encoding?

Have a nice day!

yes, this is being investigated, but it should somehow be technically possible. we kindly ask you to wait for more news on this front as it may involve an exploit.

@Siphonay Added in 6fcf1f6. Will soon be part of Web Minidisc Pro.

Merged to Web Minidisc Pro.

Awesome, thank you very much for your work @asivery!
