(general | cheatsheet) Make clear how each topic contributes to AutoML

Overall the different sessions do not really make clear how they contribute to the general topic of AutoML.

For us it might be clear that they are all somehow components needed to build an AutoML Framework but we do not sum up how they are all put together.

  • This could be done in a final session as an easy but not elegant fix.
  • The first session could give a schematic that presents an AutoML Framework that references all future chapters of the whole lecture
  • At the beginning of each lesson we could highlight which part of the AuoML Framework we are looking at (e.g. referencing the schematic) listed above.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback. I fully agree that this is missing and I also discussed it with Bernd a bit.

Actually, I'm in favor of the first option because it is easy to do and it is on the todo-stack.

The second option is also feasible but has the problem that there is practical no AutoML framework that includes everything we are going to discuss in the lecture. It would also be a very complex framework that we would need to introduce without having the chance to discuss all the parts in the detail. There is the risk that this could confuse people more than help them.

The last option is only feasible if (i) we find a solution to the second option and (ii) we are willing to edit a lot of videos, which I would see as fairly unlikely at the moment.

Best,
Marius

Hi everyone,

I think doing this in the last session is too late and it would be important to have this schematic framework from the very beginning and then in each session / lesson. As I am rather new to the topic, I couldn't see a stringent storyline of the different chapters at first. But then Jakob made a quick drawing of how things relate to each other and that helped me a lot (and I look at this very often). Without this it was more an unrelated set of different topics but now I see why you chose these topics.

Perhaps a final session would be good, additionally. But I would propose to make this framework on our own and give it to the students as kind of "cheat sheet", then you wouldn't have to edit any videos. And we just look at this together with the students in each live session.

Best
Ludwig

Such as cheat sheet sounds like an awesome idea!
