Connection Refused

Hello:

Running on a Ubuntu VM. Host OS: macOS Sonoma. Followed the instructions, but telnet localhost 4000 results in 'connection refused.' I disabled ufw. The only other firewall is on the host macOS, the OEM OS firewall, set to deny incoming connections. Since I am connecting to a port on the localhost, that shouldn't matter.

Any thoughts as to why this would be?

Just to make sure we’re clear - you’re running this on a VM that’s running on your Mac, and you’re running telnet from the Mac terminal? Or from within the VM?

Sorry, running Telnet from inside the VM.
