I don’t consider myself a front end engineer by any stretch of the imagination. I’d be happy to review a PR to improve the existing Amplify app to fix these minor things.

This is a minor thing that can run up a huge aws appsync bill in moments. I suggest you find resources to help fix this.
Meantime, if I do happen to fix it, I will be happy to submit a PR.
