editing the script to add in config options is not terribly feasible in certain environments

You're right. pypip.in started off as something I made during lunch time at work, over time more shields were added and the usage went dramatically through the roof. Sadly, it was never written with the thought of other people running their own copy in mind so there are some parts that really do need to be made more user friendly.
