Thank you for supporting 1Hosts.
It’s people like you who make these lists great! ❤Please share some before and after screenshots too.
It will help us to better understand what you have described.
This domain plus other domains under *smoot.apple.com is used by Spotlight Search. Os wide or safari or in message.
all searches that a user do (inside imessage when composing and searching gifs) or when you swipe down goes to that domain.
I have mine whitelisted. Its not giving any results when the domain is blocked. it would be great if 1hostPro will not block the whole domain since its very useful.
in nextdns, this is the only “Best” blocklist that block the smoot.apple.com. Other blocklist like oisd is not blocking this.
1host Lite is not blocking this…
A few more searches this turns up: https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/205531
all searches that a user do (inside imessage when composing and searching gifs) or when you swipe down goes to that domain.
Sounds scary as *** to me!
That link is not updated anymore since it’s Yosemite. I believe it’s not the same anymore in newer OS when spotlight search is disabled.
I whitelisted mine since its very useful. Some might think it’s scary, i think it’s not.
i am just basing this details on what documents and wiki i have in my company about some apple domains.
because we blocked those as well, but whitelisted it since so many complained.
Should we add this in 1Host Extra Instead?

The thing with blocklits is, what was true yesterday may not be true today.
It's the reason we require enough photographic evidence of a breakage before any removal is to take place.
That is, for specific cases where personally reproducing an issue isn't possible by us.
@badmojr understood. I will let you decide of you want to whitelist this in Pro list. I already added this in my allowlist in nextdns.
i really want to share a screenshot of documentation about this domains and other but I can’t since it’s confidential and i dont want to get into trouble. ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻😆
please close of required.
@badmojr @zeezeepiggy I keep *.smoot.apple.com
on my personal allowlist as well. When I was using Energized Ultimate, I alerted them to this false positive. It completely broke iMessage giphs for me. Energized is notoriously bad at responding to issues, though, which is one reason why I don't use their list anymore.
