libespeak1 required?

I tried to build this project without having libespeak1 installed, and compilation fails. I get a number of gcc errors, and at last an ldd error complaining that it cannot find pocketvox_notifier_sound_notification().
Then I installed libespeak1 package, relaunched autogen, and build works.
