This is the updated log with the 0.4.1 new-lg4ff version and the Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge 2022-12-21. Now there are a strongh FFB but you have to use your strength to bring the steering wheel back to the centre after turn the wheel to the right. Hi i decided to buy forza horizon 5 on sale and try to use my g920 wheel, there is major problems with this wheel on forza horizon 5, looking at my kernel logs the wheel or game is sending too much and so the responses from the feedback are super delayed on the wheel that make it impossible to use with feedback turned on
Here is my log file using ffbwrap, i had a look through but i dont quite understand whats being shown and if there is any errors being shown in it

Use only the --throttling option.

This didnt fix my issue, iv tried both of these and it is still delayed with responses to the wheel, unless this does something else that i misread :P

Have you tried with the latest master branch?
There's a fix for this but I couldn't test it myself. This issue happens only in the Logitech XBox wheels which I don't have.

If the information on that page is to be trusted, it's an old version.
Well i cloned and did make, put the bin files in /usr/local/bin and im having the same issue still, wheel is delayed with the throttle fix applied or not
ffbwrap --throttling /dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_G920_Driving_Force_Racing_Wheel_for_Xbox_One_000092fa4b58ed30-joystick -- %command%
Does PROTON_LOG=1 pick up these issues? or is there something else i can use to log this so i can figure out why its causing these insane delays in forza horizon 5

The cause is known. The game is sending too many FFB updates for the device to handle. If the game had some setting to limit FFB updates, maybe even limiting fps could help if it does updates per frame. Other solutions might be a modified driver or this tool.
If you want to understand why ffbtools isn't working for you, try using the -event device. If the ffb log works it means ffbtools is being used correctly.

One off topic question tho, what wheel do you have that has the least amount of problems in games and doesn't require any third party drivers to be installed?

I don't think there's any wheel with FFB that works fully out of the box. Logitech wheels at least have a built-in driver but with deficiencies. I have a G29 and it needs new-lg4ff to fully work. Same with all Logitech models supported by the same driver. XBox models aren't compatible with new-lg4ff.
Alright thanks for the reply, i also did some more research and got the --throttling to work, this got it working, now i just need figure out how much i need to delay until its perfect
/home/pollux/ffbtools/bin/ffbwrap --throttling --throttling-time 30 /dev/input/by-id/usb-Logitech_G920_Driving_Force_Racing_Wheel_for_Xbox_One_000092fa4b58ed30-event-joystick -- %command%
thanks for the all the help, i rlly appreciate it :)
