This minimalistic library seems great. How about pushing it to Bower?

I'm not crazy about adding a bower.json file to the root. Is that a hard requirement for pushing to Bower?

Well, not a requirement.
It becomes easy for developers using that package manager to use your great library :)

The only requirement, really, is that you tag your versions so bower can resolve dependencies, otherwise you just need to register a git endpoint.
