Can't box-select items loaded from a file with C-o

Make a patch, box-select works fine. Save it. Quit, relaunch. Open the patch with C-o.

Box-select no longer works on the loaded items, but does on new items added to the patch.

Box select works as expected if the file name is specified on the command line.
