Improve fonts and colors for readability

I think we could put a little more thought into the colors and fonts we use. I think the kerning is too narrow. All the words look a little too narrow. Also, I use #FFF and a background and #000 as text color a lot which I think isn't very readable. Also I think we can make use of heavier font weights in some places as well as text shadow.
