Condition colors

Plotting different conditions with the same color for interactive exploration works. However, for static images shown in publications, having different colors is instrumental.
It is a problem of UX; shu needs to communicate options to manipulate the color for each condition in the GUI without cluttering the Settings menu with options. The first solution will be the most minimal in terms of UI: if the user has selected a condition, the color will only apply for that particular condition (idem with the magic "ALL" condition).
How does that transmit to the legend of histograms?
Should there be a condition legend?

I could do fancy things with the legend (like laminating it) if that's desired but I guess that's not too important.
