Module crashes if not set up properly

Hi!

I am attempting to set up the module, but my first attempt ended with a failure:
jserror

It is likely that I haven't done something (like registering the app at the Google API portal), but even so this looks scary. I think this would be better solved by making the "Status" field red if this is a non-trivial failure.
