is there an easy way to specify a shallow clone when using the project type?

the module puppet-repository is used throughout boxen for cloning repositories, but it doesn't support shallow git clone and many useful features, I used https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-vcsrepo instead for those nice features :)
