vimpc strips "$" characters from tags.

It seems vimpc does not escape the "$" character for tags. Instead those are completely stripped out.
$wingin' Utter$ becomes ingin' Utter-

Is this still an issue? Could you provide a file file for testing? If yes, Ill try to resolve this.

I can't seem to get the same result as @carnager on testing. Nevertheless, $ characters are stripped in the song window. For instance:
