Easily find Brave Talk tab - icon in top level Brave UI

It would be great to have some kind of an icon that only appears on top level UI when a Talk session is active. The button would go back to a Brave talk video. I find I sometimes lose the tab too easily because it’s mixed with other tabs. I wouldn’t want the button there when no Talk session is active though.

Perhaps using a different task bar icon is another possibility.

I think the media icon might be the best place to put it where playing videos go.

cf., https://bravesoftware.slack.com/archives/C01BC0K5QP7/p1632244380210600 ... briefly, something similar to this feature is planned for the sidebar.

One idea can be to have a persistent Brave Talk Icon in the omni bar with text Switch to similar to Open in Tor that way irrespective of which window you are in you can switch to Brave Talk tab if you just click on that button

Maybe we could use this thing?

Instead of play/pause, it could be mute/unmute/leave/etc.

@wknapik - sorry, what is "this thing"? a little more context please, thanks!

This is covered as a request in the linked brave/brave-browser#15051.

@mrose17 sorry, don't know what it's called. But @stephendonner linked to an issue that should make it clear.

(@mrose17 I'm guessing you may have read my comment in a notification that excluded the attached screenshot)

@wknapik - thanks! it's called the "global media control", and is supposed to work on any tab that plays sound, cf., https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/9692215 ... so i'm asking the jitsi folks what they know about it.

apparently it shows up only for <video/> tags but not for webrtc (that includes Google Meet)... still researching

To be addressed by the Brave Talk sidebar button under discussion.
