It would appear that emotes are completely server-side, so a chat command will be necessary.

This is no longer the case. /me works fine (At least for me?).

Hm. There don't appear to be any commits that fix things. While emotes appear to work for the player who typed them, they probably aren't re-broadcast by the server to other players.
