Circumvent Safari on iOS

Currently, the map app is opened via the maps.apple.com link. This leads to the app opening safari, which is then opening Maps. When I want to go back to my app, I can not press the back button on the upper left side, because it is leading back to Safari. Is there any way to circumvent this behavior? This is quite an annoyance regarding UX.
