gradient layer on buttons .. is it really needed ?

In favour of keeping the plugin adaptable to whatever theme is applied is it really necessary to apply our own linear gradients on the buttons ?

I don't think it's necessary to keep it, as long as it still looks OK when the colour scheme is changed.
