The news section usually does not work on private servers. And it just distracts every time you start the game.

block via hosts or patch exe
127.0.0.1 launcher.worldofwarcraft.com

another solution, change UI, gluexml to hide news, seems more complicated, and may break compatibility with other modifications
I couldn't find the address in the exe to change it. Perhaps it will be possible to change only gluexml as a modification
