I do not really feel safe using the software after seeing this.

This software is often picked up by antivirus software as it modified the game's DLLs. However it is safe, and you can asure this by simply taking a look at the source code yourself. You should only trust your own eyes, so if you don't trust a precompiled binary simply look at the code yourself or compile it yourself.

The virus scan says it has Trojan.gen in it.

Software is not a virus, you can always compile it by yourself
