wmii hangs on startup

Closed this issue · 6 comments

Ever since the last version of WMII, when I try to start it, WMII seems to hang
for an abnormal amount of time, maybe 5 seconds or so at times, the bar is
blank while this happens

Is there something that I could do to troubleshoot this issue?
I tried a fresh wmiirc with the shell changed to /bin/sh, (/bin/dash produced
some syntax errors), and commented everything in .xinitrc out except for wmii,
the same behavior still remains the same,
Thanks for everything

What version of the product are you using (wmii -v)? On what operating
system (uname -a)?
wmii-hg2783

I have the same problem, and I am running the latest package from
debian-testing 3.6+debian-8_i386 with their 2.6.32-5-686 kernel (I think it may
have happened after I upgraded to testing)

The problem goes away if I run as root.
Before the delay I get an error message which says:
X: user not authorized to run the X server, aborting.
But enabling so I am authorized didn't help (it just said that the Z server was
already started...)

Hmm, I found a solution to my problem.
It was some configuration I did in bash_profile (mainly startx) which slowed
everything down.

Ah, I got it too, this bug can be closed, as it is not related to wmii

(in addition, it is not even a bug, it was from the configuration I put in
bash_profile in order to start X on login, as the post #2 said, I overlooked it
for some reason as well)
