Good Morning,

It has been sometime since we updated our “Where cannabis businesses are allowed” webpage and some updates are needed. I submitted a request to update the webpage on the intranet but figured I would also send an email.

The changes are as follows:

Updated Summary Stats (3 boxes at top)

44%

of cities and counties allow at least one type of cannabis business

(238 out of 539)

56%

of cities and counties do not allow any type of cannabis business

(301 out of 539)

60%

of cities and counties do not allow any retail cannabis business

(325 out of 539)

Remember that for the chart below the map on the webpage, we are only listing statuses of allowed, prohibited, or limited-medical only. Statuses of simply “limited” should be listed as “allowed” on the map and table below. However, in the excel data download, “limited” statuses should be included.

Change Date Last Updated (paragraph below map)

The Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) updated the data on this page in November 2023. The DCC reviewed city and county laws and websites. The DCC also contacted cities and counties for this information. If you’re a city or county official and think your data is not correct, email locals@cannabis.ca.gov.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the changes above. The latest version of our tracker is attached for reference.

Thank you,
