Airtable to HubSpot connection

o-ram opened this issue · 6 comments

Goal:

HubSpot is able to receive information from Airtable, to be used to fill in properties on company records and/or create internal tickets.

Scope:

This issue is limited in scope to only include one way communication from Airtable to HubSpot. A reverse communication or any interaction with the warehouse or Metabase is not in scope at this time.

This would require close collaboration with the Transit Data Quality team, the primary Airtable users, and maintainers.

Use cases:

See this document (still being worked on as of 3/15)

What we know:

  • Airtable and HubSpot both support communication between the two.
  • Zapier offers a potential way to make this connection

What we do not yet know:

  • Which specific fields we want out of Airtable
  • Custom properties we may have to create in order to match up with the Airtable fields

FYI, Emailed with Evan about his interest in an automation of the reverse of this, from HubSpot to AirTable. Will follow up with him to inquire WHO the primary Airtable users and maintainers currently are. Once this is determined, he would like a demo.

@adamglinder-la could you also figure out what properties/data they are looking to have from Hubspot in Airtable?

FYI, followed up with him again today.

@AnthonyRollins, Evan says:

I haven’t fully scoped out everything yet, but it’s on my list. I believe there is an ongoing need for having data about the following:

  • Tech Products available on the market
  • The use cases each tech product could be used for
  • Which agencies are using said products for what parts of their system and what use cases

We currently have the ability to store all of this data in Airtable, but haven’t taken a hard QA dive into making the data error-free. Additionally, there is an ongoing concern about the completeness of the data.

I think this is a great start to continue from where I currently am. I've been going through the AirTable data and matching it to our HubSpot agencies and Vendors. Honestly, at the end my cleanup, HubSpot will look like a more accurate concise version of the data dump that is currently in AirTable.

So all in all it seems that he wants to prune through everything that's in AirTable, not necessarily move anything FROM HubSpot, unless we've added updates, which I can scope as well.

@adamglinder-la So it is more about finding data that doesn't exist in either place currently.

@AnthonyRollins 100%. IF/ONCE we find more information, making sure it hits both places. Once we start this new Vendor Outreach campaign, we'll have more clarification on the practical use of this. I'll follow up then.
