Installation failed at pip install -r requirements.txt

I tried to follow the install instructions and after running
pip install -r requirements.txt
it failed with
Command python setup.py egg_info failed with error code 1 in
/home/dskloet/dash/dashmnb/venv3/build/hidapi

I've attached the debug log.
pip.log
