There is an open pull request related to this (I think). As such I'm re-opening this issue.
I'm pinging @maartenba and @stefankueng as they're listed as the maintainers on this package and appear to still be active on GitHub. I'll submit a RFM if there's been no activity in a week, per the triage process, as it looks like no one else has.
