Dongle not detected on Ventura

miguelcobain opened this issue · 1 comments

On a hackintosh with OpenCore I just made, the WiFi Dongle doesn't get detected. It doesn't even light up the usual LED lights.

The dongle is an EP-AC1689 (with 8812BU Chipset), which should be supported according to the README.

I've tried on all my USB Ports. The USB port mapping was done appropriatelly.

At first I thought it was having USB power issues, but a USB-powered external mechanical hard drive I have works without any issues.
The WiFi dongle works on other computers (one of them being a Monterey hackintosh).

MacOS version is ventura
I'm on a Z170-P motherboard, with a Skylake CPU (i5 6600k).

Any hints on how I might solve the issue?

Turns out the problem was that I was using a USB stick to boot the OS.
When following these steps, the new Kexts were added to the hard drive's EFI, not the USB stick's EFI.

Once I added those kexts correctly to the proper place, it worked perfectly!
