Extra menu for singles

Opened this issue · 1 comments

Certain songs appear to have a 'single' listed as their top search result, usually (always in my experiences) an album with only one song in it. In these cases, you have to press enter, then enter on the second (and only) option again, to play the song. It's a bit of a time waste and kinda beats the purpose.

It would be nice if either:

  1. The controller could recognise it was a single track album and automatically play the song (are 'single' albums always one track albums?)
  2. It would prioritise the song, rather than an album containing the one song, in search results

Thanks for the suggestion!

I think it is frustrating to see singles at the top when you really want to play the song within.

Quick answer

Here's the good news! You can play a single with one command:

  1. Find the single.
  2. Press Ctrl+Enter to play the entire "album."

The larger question

But I think you ask a larger question: why are singles with one song a higher priority than the song itself?

Singles can contain more than one song (spotify:album:5riqhI91rCG7PHYWQ2Pbva ⟩ one call away ⟩, for example). I think they are just EPs (rather than LPs, which are albums). Based on this, I chose to weight singles higher than individual songs.

I think it is a good idea to deprioritize singles/albums with only one song. I'll look into that!
