Relicense to MIT license
Closed this issue · 6 comments
I have received a request to relicense PeptideBuilder under the MIT license, which is more permissive than GPL v2.0. Both @mtien and I are in favor of this change, but we need an Ok from everybody who has contributed to this project.
Please respond to this issue expressing your agreement to the change: @dariyasydykova @ausmeyer @benjaminjack @hongbo-zhu-cn
Thanks!
I approve of this change to the license.
I’m fine with any change.
What is the purpose of the re-license request?
Thanks everybody, I'll commit a license change to MIT. The purpose is generally to make the library compatible with a broader set of software tools. For example, the group that contacted me works with NAMD, and the GPL is incompatible with the NAMD license.
I have come to think that MIT or similar is the right license choice for scientific software developed with public funds.
