What is the idea
Shift operates a database that hosts data collected for internal research and feeding public facing applications, such as http://denvermetrodata.org/. The database uses Relational Database Service (RDS) Postgres Engine provided by Amazon Web Services. In order to share the data with external partners more efficiently, Shift desires to build a RESTful API on top of the RDS-Postgres Engine, which complies to Shift’s centralized security restriction.
Why
Shift Research Lab is known for conducting socioeconomic research and hosting vast amounts of data on related topics. As Shift has been advocating data democratization, with a RESTful API service, the community can access Shift’s open data inventory more efficiently, additionally as one of Shift's open data toolkit, it stitches other digital apps together, we would have more integrated data ecosystem.
