Visualize trip purpose data by destination from transit survey using CartoDB

Opened this issue · 0 comments

VTA surveyed riders to determine why they were taking their trips. The data is available here:

https://data.vta.org/Transit-Operations/VTA-2013-Customer-Survey-Data/upxq-v4dp

Here's what the columns mean:

http://bit.ly/1FSlAMT

The trip destination is in columns Q2a and Q2b, and the trip purpose is in Q2c. Here's the key for Q2c:
1 Home
2 Work
3 School/school-related (e.g. 'study')
4 Shopping trip
5 Social (friends/family)/recreation/entertainment (including volunteer,
religious, political, cultural pursuits)
6 Personal errands (including escorting others/dropping off others,
court/legal business, and personal maintenance such as salon, gym, etc.)
7 Medical appointment
8 Other (unspecified)
9 Going home
10 Airport trip
11 Business-related meeting/event (including internship, interview, job search)
0 Multiple responses/blank/non-response (e.g. 'bus stop', 'somewhere
magical', etc.)

Create a map in CartoDB of destinations with a dimension for trip purpose.
