How about going CoffeeKup or Jade (Node.JS) instead of textile to keep things all JS?

Chris Eppstein, one of the creators of Haml, wrote an article a while back called Haml Sucks for Content. You could easily substitute "CoffeeKup" or "Jade" for Haml in that post, and it would still make perfect sense.
Haml, CoffeeKup and Jade are great for layouts. Markdown and Textile are great for content. On a wiki, you should be editing content without worrying about the layout. So, I think the choice of Textile is perfectly cromulent.
