The CHAOSS Community created during a She Code Africa project a Slack welcome bot.
Goal: Automatically welcome new members and provide guidance around where to get started with the project.
Through a choose-your-own-adventure style interaction, the bot recommends community resources and where to get started.

I'm sharing this as an example for how an experience can be created for a newcomer.
