Convert the pdf file after the user press upload button in my site

I'm doing a school project and I want to convert the pdf that will be uploaded by the user as soon as he/she press the upload button in my site. I was able to convert pdf files by running the php script executing a command line alone, without any html or css code. But when I integrate the php script in my application, nothing happens, the conversion is not happening. Kindly help me.
