Load expressions are a feature of v1.x which has yet to be transferred to 2.x. There are two aspects to this piece of work:
- Restore the integration test which has been removed from compilation
- Restore the functionality from the v1.x branch

This was actually closed as a WONTFIX in the end. I realised that there was no need to work on this, because the functionality it provided was already included in METAL functionality. Due to other enhancements in 2.x, full TALES expression support AND also the model are accessible from METAL.
