After disconnecting a controller, Force refresh doesn't detect it again when reconnecting it

I have 'Disable automatic device status detection' checkmarked, because leaving it on kind of has some issues. I'm fine with the force refresh method each time I connect a controller and it works fine and everything is great except....
Whenever I disconnect a controller and then turn it back on, it doesn't show up on XOutput. I click force refresh and nothing happens. I have to exit and re-start XOutput and when I click force refresh, it detects my controller again.
Having to exit and restart the application is a big cumbersome each time this happens. Not sure what the issue may be but something to look at. I run it as administrator
