Volumes belonging to RMC in the volume selection dropdown send people to ILL

Could:

  • filter RMC volumes out of the drop down
    or
  • make requests understand that those volumes should be redirected to aeon and not ILL

Hi D&A – Cammie is correct, this problem is caused by the RMC volume holdings appearing in the “Request” pull-down menu. I tried with another title:

https://newcatalog.library.cornell.edu/catalog/117425

The Annex, Music Library, & RMC all hold all 13 volumes. If you select “Request” under the Annex/Music holdings, ALL the volumes, including RMC, are on the “choose a volume” menu, but the location is not specified on that menu. If you select the volume that corresponds to RMC (in the example above, RMC’s holding is actually “v.1-13”, so a likely choice by a patron who wants to see all volumes) then the catalog directs you to ILL. If you select the Annex or Music volumes, it works as it should.

If the patron selected the “Request” button under the RMC holdings on the main record page, it directs the patron to Aeon, as it should.

Cammie stopped by Olin this morning, and she thinks this is a recent change, and the RMC volumes were not appearing in that menu before a few weeks ago. Is this the case? Was something changed to cause this? Could it be related to the changes made last month to fix the other volume requesting issue we were seeing?

Okay the problem is that the RMC,anx location items also appear in the pull down of volumes that are available, and if one of those are selected it directs you to the interlibrary loan page. The RMC,anx and RMC location items need to be removed from the pull down. If this is not clear I will be in Olin this morning and can demonstrate it if you would like. But the records for the Annex look good, it is a catalog issue.

Thanks,

Cammie

I’ve reviewed the holding and item records. Everything looks okay to me.

Caitlin and I just looked at the records for Cornell Engineer in Voyager Circulation. We think this issue is about the item holdings; someone at the Annex or LTS needs to fix the holdings in cataloging.

I am including Barb Tarbox and Cammie for help!

I justed tested this with Library Journal holdings at the Annex. I was able to request delivery of multiple volumes. Could it be this record for Cornell Engineer that is causing the issue.

I was able to duplicate the problem that Jeremy reported.

Probably makes more sense to pull them out of the drop down, getting thrown to aeon when you aren't expecting it is probably confusing?

Fixed in a special update this past May
