Support for Displaying Local Files

Not sure if this is already a feature, but I would like to open local files with this app so they can stay pinned on top of other windows. Other browsers have a file:// url that displays the local file provided by the path following "file://".

Should be possible to implement, I just need to understand what kind of permissions the app needs.
"Sandboxing" is required for App Store release, that usually limits the app access to "user selected files", given that you provide the url of the file, that should count as permission given, just need to understand how to work around this bit
