Power button no longer produces shutdown slider if held for 6 seconds...?

Opened this issue · 3 comments

Do not know if this is a firmware issue or a shell issue - since I updated, holding the power button for 6 seconds no longer produces the on-screen shutdown slider UI, so the only was I can shut down seems to be from the desktop menu, or by doing "sudo shutdown -h now" in the terminal...

Further observation on this: It turns out that "shutting down" from the desktop menu, or by entering "sudo shutdown -h now" is not actually shutting the system right down, the power is clearly remaining ON, even the the display etc close.

When I have my keyboard attached, it shows me that the link is still powered up... I need to long-hold the power button after that to get the power to actually go off.

Is there some way to tell the firmware to really shut down?

Could indeed be related, though there may be two separate things:

  • If I hold the power button for 6 seconds, the GUI used to show a slider control to trigger a shutdown; this GUI control no longer appears.
  • If I shutdown by another means (since I no longer have a GUI control) the tablet appears to go off, but in fact is still powered on but blanked. (I think Linux has terminated, but the device is still powered on.) If I wait for a while, I do see the backlight come back on (though the display is blank, since I assume that Linux has terminated by this point, of course.)
