Find an alternative to the low-level keyboard hook

Currently, a low-level keyboard hook is used to activate the multicontroller window whenever the mode switch key is pressed. I believe I tried to use the normal hotkey functions but they probably didn't work well with a single key as the hotkey.

Anti-viruses don't like keyboard hooks because they're usually a behavior of keyloggers.
