Compatibility Issue with 3mf Files in Prusa Slicer

Opened this issue · 0 comments

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Download the 3mf files from the repository.
  2. Attempt to open or import the files into Prusa Slicer (2.7.0).
  3. Observe that the files do not import and Prusa Slicer doesn't open.

Expected Behavior

The 3mf files should import seamlessly into Prusa Slicer, allowing for straightforward slicing and preparation for 3D printing.

Actual Behavior

The files do not work as expected with Prusa Slicer, causing potential barriers for users relying on this slicer for 3D printing project components.

Workaround

I've found that importing the .step files into Autodesk Fusion 360 and then exporting them 3mf works without issues. This process suggests that there might be compatibility or formatting issues with the current 3mf files.

Suggested Next Steps

  • It might be beneficial for the project to investigate the compatibility of the current 3mf files with various slicers, particularly Prusa Slicer.
  • If it's determined that the issue is widespread, consider providing alternative file formats directly in the repository to accommodate users of different slicing software.

Offer to Help

I am willing to contribute by providing the files I've successfully converted and tested with Prusa Slicer. If this is something you are interested in, I can prepare and submit a pull request with the new files.

Thank you for considering this issue. I believe addressing it could significantly improve the accessibility and usability of the project's 3D models for a wider range of users.
