Permissions in the new versions for Thunderbird 78 (a suggestion)

I am very happy that this extension is compatible with the current Thunderbird again. However, the required (extremely high) permissions level seems to be excessive. Also, there's no information that it was introduced and what was the reason for that.
I'm almost sure it was because of the need to fix a well-known incompatibility problems quickly (what is the common case after each - unexpected and surprising all developers of extensions - change in Thunderbird. Nevertheless, a warning and expected time to the introduction of regular, non quick-fix version should be added to the extension page in Thungerbird Add-ons.
I hope it will be soon corrected :-)

If you think this version has permission to do lots of things, you should see what the old version had permission to do.

During installation/update, your extension requests "full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird, and your computer". That is what the user can see, and it's a bit scary...

What is really needed later, after the update it's another question, so probably you are right.

Nevertheless, it's better to say "Don't worry, User, it's only because of the quick-fix intermediary version forced by the too-fast pace of Thunderbird API evolution; real permissions are much weaker."...
So I still think that it should be put into Thunderbird Add-ons docs for the extension.

It does? Not here.
